Of all the Hawaiian Islands, Maui has the best mix of great
beaches, good weather, sightseeing, night life and golfing, which is why
Conde Nast rated Maui the best island in the world
There are two primary
resort areas: Kaanapali/West Maui and Kihei/Wailea.
Kaanapali
is a three mile stretch of white sand beach bordered by ten major resorts
and at least 30 restaurants. Nearby, the old whaling town of Lahaina provides
additional shopping, dining and dancing. North of Kaanapali you will find
the smaller resort of Kahana, Napili and Kapalua.
Kihei and
Wailea are on the southern part of the island at the foot of 10,000
ft Mt. Haleakala. This is the warmer, drier side of the island, and is
renowned for its golfing.
